I hold an MFA in photography and have a background in film, literature, book arts, and digital media.  For four years I lived in Berlin, Germany, directly following the fall of the Berlin wall. During this time I was the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship; I exhibited my work in the Berlin area; I apprenticed to a master bookbinder; I was involved in the international arts project FELDREISE; and I was the recipient of two Landes Brandenburg artist grants.

More recently, my lens-based artistic practice has expanded to explore the potential that new technology has for bringing visual and sound arts together for interactive and immersive works both online and in physical spaces.

My processes include net art, interactive video installations, and hypermedia performances.  Through my Unseen Press, my limited-edition photographic artists’ books are in collections internationally, including MoMA, NYC; the Getty Research Institute, LA; and the Kunst Bibliothek, Berlin. My interactive and time-based media is a part of Rhizome.org’s ArtBase and has been exhibited at SFcamerawork, the Istanbul Contemporary Art Museum, the Walker Art Center, chico.art.net, Fylkingen Hz Journal #9, SpringgunPress issue 5, blueOrange 07, and Epoetry[2013], among other international venues.

As a photo book artist, I explore the territory between linear and non-linear narrative, and through new media, I extend my practices to include sounds, text, and video in conjunction with interactive computer programming.

At this time, I am working on a portfolio of photographic prints for exhibition entitled, Some Time Later… I’m Here (see link at the top of the menu to the left).

A focus in all of my productions is to create works that integrate emotion and intellect through the investigation of themes such as consciousness, perception, and memory, as well as history and the relations between people, social/environmental issues, and technology.

Currently, I am Associate Professor of Digital Art & Design at Seattle University.
